Example Buttress Natural Arch
NABSQNO 12S-608835-4270673. This unnamed arch is an old buttress natural arch eroded through a projection of Wingate sandstone. It has an upright oval aperture type opening. The lintel has been reduced to a minimal half-catenary shape, so the arch is considered old.
This arch is located in Four Arch Canyon northwest of Moab, Utah. Several 4WD trails lead to this canyon. An excellent example of a propped natural arch is close by and provides those interested with a great opportunity for comparison.
