NABSQNO 12S 0667278 4323395 Utah

The cover story of the January 1997 issue of SPAN describes the perserverance required by NABS members Jim Shields (pictured) and Larry Bouchez to reach this large natural arch in Jones Canyon. This was the first documentation of this span. The arch is located at UTM WGS84 12S 0667278E 4323395N, but not shown on the 7.5 minute quadrangle Westwater, Utah-Colorado. The span was measured at 55 feet and the height is estimated at 100 feet. The SPAN article originally reported the arch as being in Colorado but it turns out it is about a mile into Utah.
