| The cover story of the January 1997 issue of SPAN describes the perserverance required by NABS members Jim Shields (pictured) and Larry Bouchez to reach this large natural arch in Jones Canyon, Colorado. This was the first documentation of this span. The arch is located at 39° 02' 37" north latitude, 109° 03' 59" west longitude, but not shown on the 7.5 minute quadrangle Westwater, Utah-Colorado. The span was measured at 55 feet and the height is estimated at 100 feet. |
