Telephone Arch, Inyo County, California

NABSQNO 11S-482315-4037480. Telephone Arch was given its interesting name because of its resemblance to a telephone handset. This name was also officially applied to the small canyon in which the arch is located. It is an abandoned natural arch with a span of 25 feet, a height of 15 feet, and a width of 9 feet. Access is via a confusing 4WD route that leads from paved state highway 190 to the mouth of Telephone Canyon. This part of Death Valley National Park is quite remote and visitors should check in with park rangers before looking for the arch. Telephone Arch is listed in the Vreeland catalog as number 21-20.
