This arch is one of several in the area
just west of the Split Rock picnic area
in Joshua Tree National Park. This 1590
square mile Park is partly in the Mojave
Desert and partly in the Colorado Desert
in southern California. The Park can be
entered either from Twentynine Palms in
the north or from Interstate 10 in the
south. Driving about 4 1/2 miles south
from the north entrance the road forks.
Take the right fork and drive about 4 1/2
miles and turn right onto a rough dirt
road for about 2 miles to the Split Rock
picnic area. There are many interesting
rock formations in the area west of the
parking area, including small arches.
