Royal Arch
Royal Arch Certainly one of the great arches in the country, with an opening height of 170 ft and a span of 80 feet. It is on the Navajo Reservation in northeastern Arizona north of the town of Cove. The author delayed going to this arch because he was apprehensive about a vehicle breakdown in this remote area. When a daughter and friend came to visit with a four-wheel-drive vehicle, this provided an opportunity to go using two vehicles. While there is a lot of graded gravel road, there is only a short stretch of easy four-wheel-drive trail. If you go, remember you are on native American land and close all gates behind you. The photo was taken with a 400mm f4 lens on a Pentax 6x7 (120) camera.
