Longbow Arch
Drive north from Moab on US 191,cross the bridge over the Colorado River, and a little further on, turn left onto the Postah Mine Rd, State Rt. 279. This road is paved all the way to the Mine, and then becomes gravel. The road enters the canyon of the Colorado (the "Portal") and continues, following the north bank of the River. A few miles down the road a four-wheel-drive trail turns to the right near the dinosaur track sign (the track is visible on the face of a tilted rock on the side of the cliff). This trail ascends to the top of the Mesa (be sure to close the gate after passing through). The foot trail (not a marked trail) starts at a wash about a mile from the turnoff. Hike to the right up a wide valley to its dead-end. A side canyon turns off to the right; and the arch is on the left a short distance up this side canyon.
