Broken Bell Arch

From Rt. 191 north of Moab, take Rt. 313 to the
Island-in-the-Sky District of Canyonlands National
Park. Along the Park road, there is a place where
the "Island" narrows known as "The Neck". Here,
on the east side of the road, one can look down and
see the Shafer Trail switchbacks. Immediately
north of the viewpoint, is a parking area and trailhead
for the Neck Spring Trail. A Trailguide is available
at the trailhead (the trailhead is 0.4 miles south of
the Island-in-the-Sky Visitor's Center). Although
the 5 mile loop trail is on the west side of the road,
the trail crosses the road from the parking lot on
the east side. The arch is in the upper region of
Taylor Canyon and is below the level of the trail
about 2 miles from the trailhead.
