This attractive arch is located just east of Sedona on the
Munds Wagon Trail. From the junction of Routes 89 and 179,
take 179 0.3 miles south. Turn left on Schnebly Hill Road
(FR 153) just across the Oak Creek Bridge and go .08 miles
to the Huckaby/Margs Draw Trails parking area on the left.
The delightful trail maintains much of its wild character, yet
crosses and re-crosses the dirt road several times. Four
wheel drive vehicles occasionally interrupt the wild character
of the trail. As we gain elevation, clusters of raised red slick
rock come into view below Mitten Ridge, then the Merry-go-
round rock formation and the arch come into view.
Swinging around to cross the Creek, we see a delightful
archlette eroded into the sandstone below what appears to be
A limestone cap, and base of the Merry-go-round formation. Merry-Go-Round Arch: 12 S 435255E; 3859282N; UTM (WGS84) approx 5300' |
