If you were to stand at Point Imperial on the North Rim, and you could throw a ball about ¾ of a mile to the ENE, you might hit Kolb N.B Unfortunately, this largest of the Grand Canyon spans is one of the most difficult to hike to. It is in the Redwall Limestone Formation and has a span of 147 ft. It was discovered from the air by Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater in 1951 and named it for Emery Kolb He was later able to hike to it. Bob Ribokas has hiked to it and his trip reports and photos are available on his websites.
